Group History:
The Raukawa Trust Board Housing Unit has been delivering Housing New Zealand Educational Programmes and Advocacy services to whanau and hapu since November 2001.
Group Purpose:
Raukawa Trust Board is committed to assisting those whanau and hapu residing within the Raukawa takiwa to improve their quality of housing. It aims to:
“Create opportunities for affordable quality housing for Raukawa”.
Housing Unit Strategic Priorities:
Raukawa Trust Board Housing Unit formulated a vision and strategic priorities that sought to reflect the housing need within the Raukawa takiwa. It is now timely that a needs assessment shall be undertaken this year (2007), that will provide an accurate picture of the housing needs within the Raukawa takiwa.
Specifically, its strategic priorities for housing are to:
· Improve the quality of housing in the Raukawa takiwa
· Provide housing opportunities for individuals and whanau
· Ensure sustainable long term housing options for Raukawa
These housing priorities translate as the following strategic objectives:
· Homeownership; to Educate and provide advocacy to those people wanting to buy or rent homes
· Housing Repair and Maintenance; to create, implement and manage housing repair, maintenance and home improvement initiatives
· Industry Development;to facilitate and support trade training to implement the Raukawa housing strategy
· Stakeholder Relationships; to identify like minded organisations and entities as partners for housing development
· Marae Development; to identify building development needs of Marae and to support project development
