Raukawa Settlement Trust - FINAL Election Result

The Raukawa Settlement Trust (RST) has negotiated a Deed of Settlement with the Crown for the settlement of all Raukawa historical Treaty claims. This is a significant milestone and the result of intensive negotiations with the Crown over the past few years.
This settlement will enable Raukawa to build on our successes that have come through the Central North Island Forests Iwi Collective settlement and the Raukawa Deed in Relation to a Co-management Framework for the Waikato River.
The Deed has been given provisional acceptance by being initialled by the RST and the Crown, but for it to become binding, Raukawa must give their approval.
Registered adult members of Raukawa now have the opportunity to vote on whether to accept this settlement, and whether the RST should be the post-settlement governance entity to receive and manage the assets that would be acquired through the settlement.
This process of seeking the formal support of Raukawa is known as “ratification”.
Voting packs will be distributed by post to all registered adult members of Raukawa. The pack contains the documents you need to cast your vote and to assist you to make an informed decision. It includes an information booklet that explains the settlement package as well as the RST.
The RST will also be holding information hui throughout the country as well as several hui with kaumātua and claimants. Hui details are in the information booklet. I urge you to attend at least one hui if you are able before voting. A copy of the presentation slides is included in the voting pack and can also be obtained here.
