The promotion of te reo and the many issues surrounding its importance, historical journey, development and current status is a key component of the strategy.

This area of the strategy covers the raising of awareness of Māori and Non-Māori and the increased exposure of te reo use both general and through the use of key messages.
The main short term purpose of this area of the strategy is to ensure effective reo promotion initiatives are being conducted. This will lead to an increase in appreciation and value for the language by the community.

Effective Communications

During 2007 a reo promotions communications strategy was developed outlining:
·         Key target groups
·         Key messages and themes targeted at each group
·         Key media and methods to communicate with each group
This communication strategy has been implemented during 2007-08 which has led to the initiatives below.

General Promotion / Advertising

A range of material is being developed to outline key information for target groups. These will come in the form of:
·         Mail outs – hard copy and email
·         Pamphlets
·         Website updates
·         Signage
·         Advertising
·         Promotion items with key messages

Promotional Apparel

A complete range of apparel has been developed for Uri o Raukawa, people with an interest in te reo and the wider community. These items will be available via the ' Ngā Kahu Reo o Raukawa brochure'.  Visit our online store.
