Group History:
In 1989 Raukawa Trust Board initiated a treaty claim (Wai 443) on behalf of the people of Raukawa to settle outstanding claims on behalf of its people. Over the next eighteen years many people have dedicated time and effort to provide research and move the claims closer to a tribunal hearing and settlement. During this time iwi and other groups around Raukawa have engaged with the Waitangi Tribunal and completed settlements.
Group Purpose:
To resolve all outstanding Raukawa Claims within a framework that;
- Honours our tupuna
- Provides a foundation for our tamariki, mokopuna
RTB Strategic Outcome:
The Raukawa Trust Board expects that the work of the Treaty Claims Unit will enable the Trust Board to:
- Communicate a step-by-step process towards achieving our goal.
- Reaffirm the Raukawa Trust Board as the mandated iwi authority in our rohe.
- Act as a form of accountability to our whānau, hapū and marae.
- Provide leadership for our iwi in the area of Treaty Claims.

- King Country Inquiry
- Waikato-Tainui River Claim
- C.N.I Inquiry
- Tauranga Inquiry
- Develop and implement a Strategy that will enable the resolution of all outstanding Raukawa claims
- Develop a post-settlement strategy that will meet the cultural, social and economic and environmental needs of hapū and marae.
